LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER: PART 1

We could wait to paint over the nicotine stained walls in the living room! The yellow windows sills have been brighten with 'Milk White' by Crown Paints in a satin finish. For now we have decided to keep the original 1930's fireplace and chose a complimentary colour for the walls. 'Hare' by Crown Paints is a soft nude-y brown with a hint of lilac.

It's amazing how a few simple changes can completely transform a room! Still to do:

- Buy a carpet
- Get new lampshade
- Purchase a floor lamp
- Find extra seating for when guests are over!

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! 💞

At one point we didn't think this day would come. It's so surreal to say this but we bought a house and we couldn't be happier! I love it so much already despite all its imperfections. It needs a lot of work but we can't wait to get started and turn this house into our home.
The property has some really beautiful 1930's features which we plan on keeping and restoring. There are a few ugly bits ( that garage) which will need some TLC. There's so much to do and it's hard to decided which area to start on first. With us both working full time it's also trying to find time for us to get on with renovating.
We won't be rushing into a decisions and plan on living in the space for a little bit. We are tackling the smallest room this weekend and treating it as a 'practice room'. Keep an eye out on Instagram for lots of DIY content.

Plans for the dining room | Moodboard

Pinterest is great for browsing décor inspiration but I wanted to create something to filter all my ideas onto one page. With the help of canva I'm creating a mood board for each room and wanted to share with you my ideas for the dining room!

Colour detail
I wanted the room to have a cosy, luxurious feel. As the dining room is attached to a sun room, the area get's a lot of light so I felt we could be a little brave with colour. I currently love Hunter Dunn by The Little Greene but also swayed by Studio Green by Farrow & Ball. We plan on purchasing some tester pots to help us decide!

I'm umming and arring whether to add panelling to one of the wall. I don't know if it will make the room too busy but I just love how 'grand' it makes a room.

Flooring
We are very lucky to have original parquet flooring running throughout the ground floor. Once we've removed the current carpet we will sand and stain the wooden flooring. I'm so excited!

Details
We need to remove the horrible electric heater and want to replace it with a simple cast iron fireplace. The dining room isn't huge so it will only be a small fireplace. We don't plan on using the room often but it will be nice to use when having guests round and of course at Christmas time.

The dark room will be off set with gold accessorises. I'm planning on adding some greenery in the corner of the room, on the mantle and by the bar cart.

Soft furnishing
We still haven't found a dining set we love but the image on the top right is GOALS. We are trawling Facebook marketplace for something we can upcycle. I love how the tan leather will compliment the dark green walls.

What do you think of the plans? Do you create moodboards?

Refresh Your Home For Summer

Looking for a way to refresh your home décor for the summer? Why not try bold walls, vibrant patterns and tactile textures. Whether you go for the whole room or just one wall; it's time to say it with colour…

Add some drama to your living room with a rich, navy wall paper. Opting for smart furniture in a contemporary design keeps this room modern.

Mustard is the 'in' colour right now and brings that Mediterranean feel into your home. Walls painted in deep yellow will lift your mood, while neutral accessories and furniture ensure the space is soft and inviting.

Introducing colour to your walls doesn't just have to be about paint or paper, fabric wall coverings make a colourful statement whilst adding depth and texture.
